2005-2025

Luce Choules has worked with archives since 2005 – their first ‘archive’ was part of the group exhibition You Never Know When You Might Need Them which involved showing items from the personal collections of 20 members of staff at the University of Brighton. Since then, they have developed a range of fieldwork projects to work with local, national and international collections and archives through residencies, commissions, curation and personal artistic work. Choules has also contributed to many collaborative and collective works that involve in-situ documentation and evolving archives, culminating in over a hundred publications (printed and digital) and ephemeral events (live and recorded). Choules has several personal collections consisting of organic and inorganic materials, in addition to accumulating a photographic archive consisting of c.50,000 images during the past two decades – the activation of which is already underway and new work will be launched in 2026.
