MASS EROSION EVENT
Action – studio (various rock types). 2020 – ongoing

Mass Erosion Event is a series of studio actions performed on pieces of rock material found in the natural environment. The artist uses sculptor’s tools to speed up the weathering processes already present in these broken and crumbling objects. The work is an investigation into accelerated change, collapsing environments and the transformation of material.

ALONE AT LAST
Still-image photographic projection (790mm x 536mm at 300dpi – piece can be projected to approx 2m x 1.5m). 2020

Alone at Last is a still-image photographic projection exploring the enduring material field of the mountain environment. Through erosion and weather events, the wearing away of rock goes unnoticed by our human time frame – particle by particle, the boulder will transform itself to dust over geological time. This ephemeral image imagines a post-human space of the vast future.
